Glutinuous Rice Dumplings! or Zong Zi!!

It is part of a chinese tradition to eat glutinuous rice dumplings. They can be extremely tasty with their fillings made out of red beans (sweet ones) or peanuts and soya beans (salty ones). The salty ones are my favorites as they usually stuff mushrooms, chestnut, salted eggs and meat inside. Exceptionally, there is one type that has nothing inside and they are meant for the sugar coating of your choice.
Glutinuous rice dumplings are never easy to make but some great mamas at home do know how to make them well, and usually it takes many hours just to prepare the rice, the fillings and the wrappings using banana leaf as shown. Once you buy them, you can eat them straight or place them in the fridge. They will keep up to 3 days in the fridge and if you just have to reheat them in the microwave before eating them. The best hawker stalls that boast these would be able to sell them at a good price each and still leave people queueing for all the more!
