Chinese Traditional Candy - Mai Ya Tang & Long Shu Tang!! Yum Yum

I found a little stall outside the Emperor Qian Long's palace. At that time, I was hungry and craved for something sweet to eat. Hence, I went to see this little stall and these are what I saw.. We bought a few packages and had enjoyed them very much. These are all traditional candies or sweets hand made on the spot. Their names being "Mai Ya Tang" being the rod looking ones, "Long Shu Tang" or (dragon whiskers candy) being the ones looking like white cocoons.. and their favorite "Hua Sen Tang" (peanut candy)..

What I saw on the making was through a lot of hard work hammering on the candy paste which then was rolled into the shape of the candy itself. There should be a number of the same vendors selling these same candies all over the place. The key is to find the best one and usually they would get exported overseas where they would sell at a much higher price. So, if you would ever come across one of these stalls, remember to taste some..

Super Healthy Options - Corn Flakes and Apple Juice

Most of the time, we ought to get pulled away from the realms of eating much healthier food. Perhaps it has all to do with bad eye sight. Anyhow, opt to eat a good bowl of hearty healthy Kellogs Corn Flakes with skim milk to start the day in good balance.

Corn flakes would not rank any less being one of the most preferred cereals of all time and it is one offering one of the lowest in calorie. Try this one, Kellogs, Special K, Peach and Apricot.. You will not regret!

Studies show that drinking regular fruit juices would help boost overall body health and detoxifies waste from the body.

However, did you know that some juices have been added with sugar and hence they become less of a healthy option. Always get 100% natural fruit juices to ensure you are getting a vast array of necessary vitamins and minerals..

Traditional Asian Finger Food -- CuCur Udang & Roti Paun

It looks mouth watering and the truth is one bite it takes your breath away. Call it "Cucur Udang" in Malay language and they are one of those favorite finger foods or snacks you can find easily in most Asian countries.

Made from rice flour and deep fried with onions and slices of prawn meat topped with different spices and herbs, the end product is scrumptious and irresistable..

This other one here is called the "Roti Paun" meaning pound bread and as usual this is also another local favorite among Asians. The center filling is made of a strong taste curry paste with chicken meat cutlets.

The outer layer is covered with crumbs, rolled and then deep fried until golden brown. What an exciting way to tea in the afternoon!

A Typical Hearty Chinese Meal

A typical Chinese meal would not miss on its serve of plain white rice as the primary source of carbohydrates. Nowadays, people enjoy long grained to short grained to medium grained rice and it suggests that the medium grained ones have become more likable than the others as it bears a more glutinuous texture able to complement the rest of the dishes.

Serving along the table, usually the Chinese would enjoy a number of other dishes primarily vegetable servings as they are either fried, stir-fried, braised, stewed or steamed with cutlets of meat or eggs. The way the meal is designed would have mostly been pondered upon the final composition to suit the family members tastebuds so to make a comfortable meal upon each preferred taste of distinction.

For example, there would have been a dish that would taste salty, while the other one sweet and savory to complement the overall meal on table.  Or it could have been several very hot dishes to supplement the fierce cold outside. A true family meal would have been prepared and cooked with a lot of passion to ensure the outcome is desirable by each member of the family.
